Both Texas A&M and So. Illinois lost because of missed layups and now my bracket is better suited to be a firestarter. Thus far, at least for me, March Madness has lived up to the hype. The first two days were so-so, but Saturday and last night's games made it all worthwhile.
On another note, we've all been told not to drink and drive, but Tony LaRussa took that lesson one step farther. Do NOT, under any circumstances, drink and drive and fall asleep while driving at a red light. Then, no matter how famous you might be, your going to get arrested. Take it from me, its better to fall asleep and drive off the thruway.
Coaching victory #1 coincided with my 25th bday. It was a sweltering 45 degrees for the entire afternoon and I felt as though I was coaching a game in Rochester. We had a 7-2 only to see it shrink to 7-5 and then our centerfielder bailed us out after a few errors with a nice diving catch to end the inning. After the game, we had to wait for the girl's softball game to end before the bus could leave. After 12 consecutive walks, 10 passed balls, and a never-ending half inning, my boys got kicked out from behind the backstop for "insulting" the other team's pitcher. Well, if they could put somebody on the mound who could pitch then we wouldnt have had a problem.
March is almost in the books and Spring Break looms ahead of me. I was going to make a return to Rochester, but I've opted for a Southern vacation to the ATL and Florida. The main goal is to find a job for next fall. Anyone considering a move to NC, SC, or Georgia should contact me. And I know I won't be receiving a call from Bernie because he's one step closer to marriage.
Finally, was it shocking to hear that Hetzer, who only one week earlier told me how great his job was and how he was going to move 50 miles East of LA and blah, blah, blah, has moved on to a new career yet again? Uh, the answer is a simple NO.

Si Toliver is the president on 24 now???!!!
After hearing about the cancelation of the deadwood series on hbo i was shocked. And i wondered how might the series have wraped up. After seeing si toliver give that "Im si toliver and your a whore!" stare down to the blond assistant in the elevator on 24 i think i know what happened. Some how si toliver ran into brisko county jr. Si got hold of the orb traveled to the future and became vice president. As for the rest of the gang. In real live Al Sweringin owned the gem theator. He sent for hot actresses to perform at the theater. When they got their it turned out the theater was a brothel and he would not give them money to go back home. Uhhhh Haaaaaa!

Madness
I feel like Bernie Pie right now. I'm emergency subbing during my planning period for a music class as I type. What a crock of shit. So while a bunch of 5 and 6 year olds are watching a movie, I'm writing to you all.
The Cuse/G-town game the other night was fantastic. Rautins has been the player that has really stepped up for them over the past few weeks. Will they make a deep tourney run? Probably not. But, just making the field of 65 is good enough for a team that looked really bad throughout most of January. However, with the zone and Nichols, Devendorf, and Rautins playing really well, you never know. And that is the great thing about college b-ball. Exciting, unpredictable, and so much better than the NBA.
My baseball tryouts began on Monday. One kid showed up without a glove. Yesterday, a different kid didn't even know how to hold the bat. For the most part, however, once I make cuts the team should be decent. It gives me something to look forward to every afternoon because my students are driving me crazy.
24 has really disappointed me lately. It used to be must-see TV. Or,at least the DVDs were so addicting that I watched up to 8 episodes in a row. Now, the ideas have run out and I think the show is losing its appeal. What a shame. And now that its winning awards and getting all the praise, I wonder what a mainstream audience would have thought of the really great seasons (2-4).
Charleston job fair is only a week away. It will be a much needed break. I believe Eddie is coming with me too.
Gotta go, 40 preschoolers are calling my name.
