One of my favorite weekend road trips of all time.
Other thoughts:
Domingo, I'd figure I'd chime in with some music recommendations. The new Kings of Leon cd is pretty good, comparable with their previous two. Knocked Up, On Call, My Party all rock out hard. Great cd to play while driving at night. I still think my favorite Kings of Leon song is Slow Night, Slow Long immortalized Survival of the Fittest mixtape.
Sky Blue Sky is pretty good too. I think it's their most relaxed cd yet. Pretty straight-forward rock songs. Impossible Germany is awesome.
Newer bands that I've taken a shine to:
The Broken West On the Bubble is infectious as a bastard.
The Band of Horses The Funeral is almost flawless and The Great Salt Lake rocks too, even though it has nothing to do with Derron Williams or Carlos Boozer.
This band reminds me a lot of Built to Spill which is one of my favorite bands. They plenty of songs that have lines which I've heard dozens of times before but for some reason just jump out at me. For example, on Made-Up Dreams one line - Hard to believe that after all this time, that after all this, I'm still me. How great of a lyric is that?
Second line - It takes a lot to make me crazy and a lot is always going on The more I think about it, the more awesome it is.
And Built to Spill is not really even about the lyrics, they just take up space so they can shred and blow minds with their guitars. If I were at one of these hipster bars where people think having mustaches are ironically funny and drink PBR for the same reason and a pale-skinned chick who says she designs T-shirts but really works at Coffee Bean played this song on the jukebox, I'd consider proposing.
Barely noteworthy occurances at Dodger Stadium since I've last posted:
-Brandon Phillips almost took me out diving for a foul ball
-Griff gave a guy his jockstrap This all happened very close to where I usually am and sadly I had zero clue it was going on, I only read about on Deadspin afterwards.
-A drunk mexican guy (no offense domingo) called me clay aiken
-Chad Lowe, aka that d-bag Reed from this season of 24, was at the Reds game with a chick that was less hot than Hillary Swank. Said chick was wearing a one of those Urban Outfitters-type t-shirts that said "Chad is Rad" To sum up, Chad Lowe's girlfriend was wearing a shirt that said "Chad is Rad".
That's about all for now, I hope to hear more updates from Hetzer and P Double...
